{"id":2092,"date":"2026-02-05T18:14:05","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T18:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacionexpresarte.com\/cultural-week-international-day-of-the-white-cane\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T23:43:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T23:43:17","slug":"cultural-week-international-day-of-the-white-cane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacionexpresarte.com\/en\/cultural-week-international-day-of-the-white-cane\/","title":{"rendered":"CULTURAL WEEK &#8220;INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WHITE CANE&#8221;."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>main objective<\/strong> of the Cultural Week <strong>&#8220;International Day of the White Cane&#8221;<\/strong> is aimed at blind and visually impaired people in the Department of Huila, which aims to <strong>promote cultural inclusion and visibility of this community in the artistic, educational, sporting and social spheres<\/strong>, through activities that combine art, awareness and active participation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Municipalities:<\/strong> Neiva, La Plata, Garz\u00f3n, Pitalito and San Agust\u00edn.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Date:<\/strong> October 2026<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Duration: <\/strong>4 to 5 days<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Population size:<\/strong> participation of a maximum of 20 visually impaired persons per municipality, for a total of 100 persons.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Main objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Encourage cultural participation<\/strong>: Articulate artistic activities (theater, music, sculpture, painting, jewelry) that allow blind and visually impaired people to show their creativity and manual skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inclusion and visibility<\/strong>: Integrate the productions and activities of these groups in plans, programs and campaigns of public, private and social institutions, so that their cultural presence is recognized and valued.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sensitization and inclusive education<\/strong>: To offer sensitization experiences for people without visual impairment, inviting them to tour places through touch, fostering empathy and understanding of the artistic experience for people with visual impairment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training and development<\/strong>: Organize workshops, courses and rehearsals that enable blind and visually impaired people to develop artistic and social skills and participate in community cultural life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respect and rights<\/strong>: To recognize and respect the abilities and rights of blind and visually impaired people, promoting an accessible and barrier-free cultural environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Approach<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cultural Week for the Blind seeks to <strong>transform the cultural perception<\/strong> of this community, moving from exclusion to inclusion, and strengthening the cultural identity of those who participate.
